Summary of the results of the Politburo meeting today, August 2, 2024 at the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV)’s Central Committee Office
According to an internal source:
“The Politburo held a meeting today. Thirtheen out of fourteen Politburo members voted against the proposal to unify the two positions of General Secretary and State President.
They agreed with the plan in which To Lam will be promoted to General Secretary while Luong Cuong to hold State President and Tran Cam Tu will be promoted to Standing member of the Secretariat.
However, the Southern group has not yet fully agreed with the above personnel arrangement, and there may be further reactions from this group.”
