As internal information reported on July 18 about “Affairs for the funeral of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong” in which was writen:
On July 15, 2024, Major General Le Huu Song, director of Army Hospital 108, the Central Health Protection Committee and Chinese doctors consulted and concluded that General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong was brain dead.
Song arrived at 05 Thien Quang where Mrs. Ngo Thi Man, Nguyen Phu Trong’s wife, resides. Song informed the family to prepare mentally and determined for Mr. Trong’s funeral.
The government’s plan is to bury him at Thach Ban mountain peak in Vinh Phuc province (Tam Dao is also known as Ba Go or other names Thach Ban, Thien Thi and Phu Nghia. In nice weather, standing on the top of this mountain you can clearly see the entire inner city of Hanoi).
But Mrs. Man and her first daughter, Nguyen Kim Ngoc, refused the plan and wanted to bury him in Dong Hoi commune, Dong Anh district. She said: “When he is healthy, he told me that if died senior officials are burried in big places, people will curse them later.” And “Don’t live with regrets and when pass away, there is a need of simplicity.”
However, today, July 20, the Vietnamese government suddenly announced that late Secretary General Nguyen Phu Trong will be buried at the National Mai Dich Cemetery.
The internal source added: “Today the Politburo met and discussed with the family, so in the end, Mrs. Ngo Thi Man and her family had to accept.”
It is unclear whether in the future, if Mrs. Man passes away, she will be buried with her husband at Mai Dich Cemetery or not?
In case this is not possible, the couple will have to separate forever even after death.
